I Met Some Amazing Marines 31 August 2006 at the museum by Love Field in Dallas. Men who served in WWII at Iwo Jima. A Marine who was one of the Marines that raised the original flag at Iwo Jima. A Marine who was a Navajo Code Talker. A Marine who was one of the first on the beach. The daughter of a Marine who was a POW that managed to assemble a camera and take pictures in the camp where he was being held. A Devil Doc who won the Medal of Honor. Many amazing Marines, heros and veterans. It was a day of feeling humble in the presence of such great Americans. A day of living history and meeting those who were there.
Since meeting these Marines and now I have seen the movie "Flags Of Our Fathers." I am all the more amazed and in awe of the men I met and their outstanding actions. I can not vouch for the accuracy of the movie. I can vouch for how it held my attention and seemed realistic. Not only for myself but for those attending the movie preview with me. Given I got to see a preview and the audience was mostly military and military families and the lack of movement during the move. I seldom watch movies on the big screen of a movie theater. This is definately a movie I would recommend.

Some prior service Marines at the event today. The H3 isn't all that much smaller than the HMMWV.
